Oudenrijn Traffic Control Centre, Utrecht (NL)
Dirk Jan Postel
The Oudenrijn traffic control centre is operated by the Dutch Ministry of Transport. Central to the process are large television screens in a central control room. The building is designed by section. Three zones (control room, service area and offices) are integrated into a single extruded volume. Approached by car drivers from all directions, the building shows a distinctive face on all sides, with the facade seamlessly extending into the roof. Large bay windows provide daylight and views from the control room on either side.
